I was reading our diocesan newspaper this evening and was inspired by the exhortation of our beloved Santo Papa, Benedict XVI (but I'd much rather call him with much affection, Papa Joseph). He asked us to look to Christmas with joyful expectation and gratitude in our hearts. He invited all to make a list of Advent blessings to open our spiritual eyes to the many hidden graces bestowed by Our Loving Father. So today, for the rest of the Advent season, I will focus on just one blessing I've recei… Continue

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays.
It's not so much the food and the family, although they are both great.
Its the fact that we have a chance to take a step back and say what we are thankful for and I love that!
My list is long, here's just a glimpse:
1. A God who loves me even when I'm n… Continue

I love the busy, joyful, hectic time of Advent; with the fur, feathers and flour flying, everyone singing, and the lights and candles reminding us that His birthday is so near.
One of the things that adds a lot of joy (and craziness) to my Advent is the annual string of all-nighters necessary to finish crafting handmade Christmas gifts. Keeps me out of the stores, edifies my spirit when I pray for and think of the recipients, and adds to the anticipation. Do they love them? I don't know for sur… Continue

Hello Ladies. Our Catholic school principal asked me to help improve our traditional 5th grade "Health" curriculum to include more solid Catholic teaching and a Theology of the Body approach. I am a certified Health Educator who is now a Family Life/Youth minister well trained in TOB. I have taught the TOB for teens...I am very comfortable and excited to do this. I went looking for comprehensive resources and am not getting anything from the TOB websites and don't know what else to search under.… Continue

Prayer of St. Gertrude the Great
Our Lord dictated the following prayer to St. Gertrude the Great to release 1,000 Souls from Purgatory each time it is recited:
"Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own… Continue

There's an answer to modern feminism that eliminates the competition of woman vs man, (and woman vs woman for that matter) while uplifting the dignity of true womanhood. Find out more on episodes 31 and 32 on the Among Women podcast. Find it here: http://tiny.cc/00NGq

Don't let yourself be mislead by the current administration. You may see Catholics all throughout Obama's administration, but don't kid yourself these people are really impostors, because if they were really Catholics, they would not be occupying any position in this administration. We need to open our eyes and see what is really happening, and this video explains it best.

This poem came out of a picture I saw in my mind one day when I was praying. I hope it will encourage you as Jesus encouraged me! Our prayers and praises matter to Him. His kindness is so amazing.
~Stones to Jewels~
The words I find to praise you can never be enough
They drop like stones,
or fall like dry leaves upon the ground.
But then I see you
You bend to gather them with your precious hands,
holding them close to your heart.
Then, smiling,
you beckon me closer.
Stretching your arms towards… Continue

I know so many of you have dealt with sick kids and worse situations. And there are so many families that deal with ongoing medical issues every day. While this wasn't our first hospitalization or emergency, it was our scariest and most difficult. At the same time, it has been our most inspiring. Without taking up too much space or monopolizing your computer time I wanted to share a witness to the power of the Rosary and the intercession of our Blessed Mother.
We were told Clare would nee… Continue

May we all pray together for the unemployed and all those struggling to make ends meet during this difficult economic time. It can be very difficult to walk the faith in the work force and it can ultimately cost one their job. May we all embrace our crosses just as Christ embraced His. And so, if you are without employment in your family, know that you are not alone and that the Meyer household is praying for you.

I spent the past weekend going to several stores looking for the latest fashion trends, and found some great deals on some new fall clothes. I have always loved shopping, but after this shopping excursion, I couldn't help but think that maybe getting so wrapped up in what we buy and if it is in style or not is not a healthy way to glorify God.
Lately, I have been really trying to pray everyday and consider how to better my relationship with God in everything that I do. So, when I got home from… Continue

So, knowing that depression runs in my family, I have been very aware of myself and my feelings over the past several years. I noticed when I was in college, that I was becoming a downer. I don't know if there is any correlation with a time in my life when I am making a crucial decision, and when I start feeling down, but something is definitely going on.
I know that I am not clinically depressed, where I want to take my own life, or feel like I need drugs to really pull myself out of it, but I… Continue
A friend found this anonymous poem online. I wanted to share it, I think it's so beautiful! I hope people will be touched by these words about Jesus' love for us.
When love beckons to you, follow him,
Though his ways are hard and steep.
And when his wings enfold you yield to him,
Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.
And when he speaks to you believe in him,
Though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden.
For even as love crowns you so… Continue
Humanity Explored -
The film festival where we gather and explore Our voice - as citizens of different locales of this earth, sharing the same cosmic resources that sustains life in us, dreaming the same future, experiencing same fundamental emotions, living similar life stories, yet intensely feeling separation among us. Can we feel 'interconnectedness' or 'oneness' by sharing what fundamental emotions, needs and dreams unites us, and question/contemplate the divisive perception of 'otherness'… Continue
