Growing up we did the Kings Cake on Epiphany with a bean or large nut hidden in for one of us to find and be crowned the King or Queen for the year. We also kept decorations up til Epiphany.

We've had celebrations on Epiphany- with a special cake. The wise men also move around the house and leave small gifts for the kids. I guess the biggest change we've made over the past couple of years is to not pull out most of our Christmas decorat…

Hey All! I'm trying to really take in the season (currently Advent) with rich church traditions. I've done "ok" with Advent - but it's felt so busy (maybe pregnancy hormones make me feel less on top of things). It will be less hectic after Christm…

I love seeing the beautiful pictures posted here! Just beautiful. We don't have a family altar as of yet. I've been praying that my husband won't mind eventually if I put in a garden statue of Mary in front of our house though. I have a framed pic…

We too have an altar in our home. It is not very grand but is used a great deal. The altar is actually on a small table that has 2 shelves under the table-top. I made a cloth for each of the liturgical seasons and the children love to change the clo…

Here's a good description of an icon corner/prayer corner/family altar that I came across: An icon corner is the family's place of worship, also called the home altar. The concept of the church of the home is an ancient Christian tradition, beginni…

As is common in the Eastern (Byzantine) Catholic Churches, we have a family altar/icon wall on an east-facing wall in our home...since it is from the east that the Son of God is said to return (which is why Eastern Catholic & Orthodox Churches are c…

To me the obvious answer is that teens with religious backgrounds may be easily tempted by sex, but less likely to get an abortion. While non-religious teens would most likely turn to abortion right away.
October 23, 2009
So the theory is that religious teens are having sex in direct contradiction to their faith's teachings, but they AREN'T using contraception because the Catholic Church says no-no? (Is there any Protestant church that teaches against contraception?)…

I'm sickened...

This saddens me, sickens me, and makes me pray harder for my fellow souls more than EVER.

Atheists choose 'de-baptism' to renounce childhood faith

By G. Jeffrey MacDonald, Religion News Service
Up until last summer, Jennifer Gray of Columbus, Ohio, considered herself "a weak Christian" whose baptism at age 11 in a Kentucky church came to mean less and less to her as she gradually… Continue

Thank You!

I just wanted to blog here and say, thank you for all the prayers and honest words on my last entry here. Things are so much better. Forgiveness was sought and given, things worked out, and our friendship is intact. Vacation also did wonders in helping me renew, pray, reflect, and REST.

Journaling, honesty, prayer, and letting Go, letting God really helps! Thanks for being a part of that!

Much Love!

A heavy heart...need to unload

Funny, as soon as I wrote that title, I realized the one thing I have not done yet for the week that would help is - CONFESSION. I think Saturday is calling my name....

I know most times feelings are VALID, and there are two sides to every street, 2 sides to every situation, but I feel SO badly this week for MY side of it all.

I've been blogging, or mostly hinting, about some of the troubles I've been facing the last few weeks that have been sucking my spirit dry (leaving me needing the Spirit… Continue

An inspiration to me.....to LIFE

I follow the Mooney's blog, the atypical life - which is about their daily life. Before this blog, they wrote about their 1st baby, Eliot, on 99 Balloons. I could go on and on about this AMAZING family and son, but check out their interview on the Today Show today. You can then google the full 99 Balloons video by googling "99 Balloons"… Continue
