Thanks everyone for the lovely replies and the rich ideas, sites, and recommendations! I do feel like I now have a well of sources to start with. I do like the idea of limiting things, especially the first year we try this. Thank you so much! HUGS,…

Erika, We are also what you would call a traditional Catholic family, although we attend the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom (& the occasional Tridentine Mass when it is offered in our area). Like the others said -- there is literally no end t…

There is a wonderful forum of Catholic women who share ideas on celebrating the liturgical year in the domestic church. The address is: 4real.thenetsmith.com The board was founded by among others, Elizabeth Foss, who also contributes to Faith & Fami…

We don't do Halloween at all! We don't buy candy for the neighbors either. Lights out and no decorations should give them a sign that we don't celebrate as most houses in my neighborhood. We started this about 6 years ago and don't regret it at all!…

We have been going to the TLM for a year now and feel truly blessed to be able to do so. We drive a little under 45 minutes on Sundays and 40 to 75 minutes on weekdays, depending on traffic, but it is so worth it. I only go to daily Mass on Friday.…

Hi Leanna! I'm so glad you have "discovered" the TLM. My husband, Todd, a convert from Protestanism, introduced me to it, can you believe that? He saw the N.O. too much like the services he attended at the previous church and wanted to find somethin…

Mary, Sorry for my incredible delay in respinding to you! I'm so impressed that you found the TLM through the NO, lol! I was, believe it or not, at one point a Charismatic. Yes, in my youth I was heavily involved. I believe my faith evolved from tha…

Thsnks Erica, this is great. I have only just recently found the TLM. Our dioceses has a priest come into our Cathedral once a month to say TLM. I would of course like to have this all the time, but it has shown me the richness of our church. There…

Domestic Church: Room by Room - Sacramentals (Books GIVEAWAY)

This month, we are having active discussions on creating a Domestic Church in our homes. In my quest for new ideas in our home, I virtually met up at Faith and Family Connect, with Catholic author, Donna-Marie Cooper O'Boyle. She has written several books on this topic and we spoke about my desire to spread the news of her wonderful book entitled, The Domestic Church: Room by Room. At the end of August, we will raffle off two of her books to two different Catholic Mamas.

Hi Erika,

My kids are similar in age to yours. My oldest is Anna, almost 7, Nicolas, 5, Joseph, almost 3 and Cecilia, 1. They are definitely a handful but I wouldn't change it for anything. It is so wonderful to see how the Lord has created us in such a unique way. When people out in public say "you have your hands full", I always say "yes I do and they are full of love".
God Bless your journey this homeschooling year.

erika,
I do understand what you mean re FB. I have had a person who constantly checks my ''friends'', and then makes them his friends and I just can't be myself, thats why this site is so good. it hasn't been too broadcasted, so its nice and person, not too big. Its got a nicefeel about it.

Hey Erika, great to hear from you. I'm super busy during August - working on final edits for my book and pre-publicity stuff, plus all the activity with getting the boys ready for school. I don't know how our summer slipped by so quickly! Hope you're having a terrific August!
