This is my second year of homeschooling. My kids are 7 and 8, (2nd-3rd grade). They both did go to public school for 2 years each. My youngest went for pre-K and K. My oldest went for K and 1st grade.
Most of our material comes from CHC (Catholic Heritage Curricula) and we do get some material from Seton. Our primary reason for that is because they are Catholic Materials and are what we consider to be very affordable. It cost us about $300-400 per year to get the curriculum needed for the kids.
I just found CHC online today, I think I will really like it! I think while I get the hang of homeschooling I need something that will "hold my hand" through it, and is a good, solid Catholic curriculum.
I am homeschooling just my 4th grader for the 1st time this year. I have 10 other children most of whom attend Catholic Schools.(3 in high school, 4 in the elementary and 3 home full- time) I am using the k-12 curriculum which is FREE in a majority of states. This program really gives you a ton of support, and they assign a teacher to your family which we have much contact with throughout the month. Though it is not Catholic I find that the support they give esp. since this is my first year is SOOO helpful. I supplement with the Sadlier series religion that is taught at our Parochial school - I really feel I am getting the best of both worlds for this year. I might do something more "Catholic" as far as the whole curriculum next year once I get the homeschooling thing down.
